OK, we're off again, so what...what can I say? It's been a while since we entered a blog, and because a lot of you enjoy reading this stuff - here we go again.
Dear diary...we left for new adventures on March 8th for a 3 month trip. Most thought we were leaving on Wed. Mar. 9th, but for those living in Michigan; well you know, ya have to take advantage of the weather and when to escape the wraths of that white stuff. So we made our escape earlier than expected. I know...wa wa wa, but hey, what can I say. We got out and drove the old RV to sunny skies and went to visit Elvis. We heard he had been sighted again in Memphis. We spent our first night in a rest stop in Indiana in the rain and left the next day for Memphis. While we did not wear our shorts yet....we were getting close.
We visited the King's homestead and I must say we were caught up in the nostaglia. It's hard to believe that the King's been missing since Aug. 1977 (where does the time go?) Well, anyway the place is just the way he left it (so we're told) except he now resides on the grounds outside the house. If you have not had the opportunity to visit Graceland, and you're part of the greatest generation then you probably should visit. It brings back a lot of memories. We had a nice time remembing when.
The next day we
visited Meeman Shelby State Park and had lunch at Shelby Forest General Store known for the "Best Hamburger".
Well, it was pretty good. We were invited back for a steak dinner that night, and we were told they would have entertainment. They always have a "picker", but tonight they also had a "fiddler". We were told we'd have a great time!
If we would have been staying closer to the store, we would have gone back. Instead we left for downtown Beale Street in Memphis for some Blues music and ribs. Visited the Peabody Hotel and had a great time in Memphis.
We left Memphis after staying 3 nights and continued on our way back down to New Orleans. We arrived Saturday March 12 and were in the French Qtr. Saturday night. As usual we had a great time, and Nancy got some more beads. We have a week full of activites planned while we're here.
Now you have a choice....You can continue checking in on this blog and follow us, as I will not disclose our future itinerary, or you can just hit the old delete button and say who cares! Just don't put us in your Spam file! I never did like spam even as a kid.
I'll leave you with this for now. "Elvis has left the building".....
Oh I almost forgot...PS...we are now in our shorts!
