Wherever we are we always have a great time, and this time was no exception! We finally left our snow bunnies (family and fri
ends) in Michigan on Dec. 20th. While we had a fairly dry and clear ride down to North Carolina, we did have a little experience with the weather. As we drove through the mountains in West Virgina, we found our favorite rest stop Tamarack snowed in and out of gas and fuel. This was interesting as we had about an eighth of a tank of fuel when pulling in! We did find fuel at the next exit or else we would have had to have a snowball fight..... So with fuel we decided to drive 2 more hours to get out of the mountains. This was a good thing because the freeway was closed 2 hours later - both northbound and southbound due to black ice. We stayed at a campground in Mt. Airey, North Carolina for the night. The campground was named Mayberry, yep the same one with Andy Griffith. This was really where old Andy was born, Mt. Pilot and Floyd's barber shop included. Well even Mayberry had snow, and we had to pull in using Mean Green's 4 wheel drive. Nice place to say, and we will be back I am sure when heading down to NC again.
We arrived in Chapel Hill , NC the next day and spent the Christmas week with Laura and Jimi and Trader Joe's. We had a great time decorating their tree and hanging our stockings with care. The little blond girl also sews.... Can you tell which one is Nancy's?
We had great food and played a lot of games with
both Laura and Jimi and Jimi's sister, Michelle, and fiance, Chris. The guys are still licking their wounds over the game Catch Phrase, but we did have our moments of fame. Weather in NC was in the high 40's and low 50's during the day and low 30's at night. No white Christmas for us! It ended up raining all day Christmas, but that was the only day with no sunshine.

After 6 nights in NC we finally said our goodbyes and Happy New Years to our kids and headed further south. We are now about 60 miles south of Savannah, Georgia in Brunswick. Nice campground, and we will be here for the next 3 nights before heading into Florida where we will reside in Fort Myers for 3 weeks. That's all for now so to all Family and Friends............Happy New Year!
