CATCH US IF YOU CAN

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA MAR. 6 - PRESENT

This blog is an update over our last 3 stops along our 2010 travels. Sorry we're late in our update, but heh...who cares...Be sure to continue to scroll down to see all our experiences, as you are reading our blog at our current location as of March 6th, 2010 which is New Orleans.
Now........ We were not sure where we would go after leaving our friends in Alabama... as you'll read below, but we were not ready to come home and when we left them from Alabama, we were only 3.5 hrs from New Orleans sooooooooo that's where we headed for, and that's now where we are. That's what's nice about being 'Two Gumba's Lost On The Road and Lovin It"! We can do what we want! Now for alittle picture explanation.
The pictures above represent the first day we arrived in New Orleans, Saturday. In fact, we were in the French Quarter 3 hours after arriving at our campground. Now.... for you ladies reading this, you can see Nancy wearing alot of those beads they throw around down here in the French Quarter and NO, I did not buy them for her nor did she....so I'll just stop there and you can figure out the rest. You know how they get them things.....Notice she is wearing quite a few, eh? So much for being innocent looking for shells on the beach!
Now Sunday, we attended Mass at the oldest active cathedral in the United States in the French Quarter. Nancy had alot of praying to do! Needless to say the cathedral was beautiful. We spent our second day again in the French Quarter and had lunch on a second floor balcony overlooking everything! This is really a pretty cool place to visit, and it is hopping 7 days a week, but be prepared to walk and oh of course....DRINK!
Today, which is Monday...we toured the "Laura Plantation" which dates back to 1805. It was a sugar plantation. We liked the name!

PHOENIX 9 CONDOS ON PERDIDO BEACH, ALABAMA FEB. 26 - MAR. 6

No, this is not a slideout balcony on my RV! After leaving St. George Island, Florida, we headed to meet our great friends Jim and Loretta at Jim's cousin's condo in Perdido Beach, Alabama. Yep, that's us from our 10th floor condo and yep, yep, yep...thats our view from our room! BONAFIDE! What a beautiful condo and location. The only downside...... you'll have to love shrimp or oysters or crawfish or flounder or grouper or tuna or hushpuppies or......oh to hell with it...anything that comes from the sea! Meat eaters go home!
We were so so busy with all there was to do, and believe me we only scratched the surface. Our first night took us to Florabama...a nightclub on the beach. Did I say nightclub? Well...it was night and that was a good thing because you can't see much in the dark, and club well....you needed one to get through the crowd, so yes.....a nightclub. If ever you come to this area you must stop and have a drink at Florabama. My friend Jim became a real DAD to me that night and it's one all 4 of us will always remember and one that I'll try not to talk about in the future....?... but I'll leave it at that.
We did so much, where do I start? We toured the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, Florida. Excellent! We toured the USS Alabama Battleship and the submarine USS Drum. Excellent! We toured Fort Morgan. Great! Oh and we toured many restaurants....Magnifico!
We had a great time and would do it all over again...even popping heads off shrimp! Like all vacations the fun ones end too soon, and this one was no exception. We look forward to the next ones with friends we love......but now where do we go? How about New Orleans?

ST. GEORGE ISLAND, FLORIDA FEB. 21 - 26

Hello to all! We are back after a few busy weeks of having fun on beaches and with friends. I thought it was time to update the blog and fill you in since we left the Ocala/Silver Springs area.
We left Silver Springs on Feb. 21st. and 5 hours later we arrived at St. George Island State Park. These pictures are from St. George Island on the Gulf. As you can see, Nancy is very busy being her normal "bag lady" self finding those special shells! We enjoyed the beautiful beach here and even had a couple of warm days for the beach and biking. We walked the beach for 3 miles one way and 3 back of course. Reminded us of when we were at Surf City, NC last April with Laura & Jimi. We watched the sun rise here also. Spent an afternoon in Apalachicola touring around sight seeing. Had our first oysters on the half shell. Then went to the old city cemetery. It looked to be from Disney World's haunted mansion! Wow. Really old and I must say alittle creepy. Some of the tombs were falling apart like someone was trying to get out!
