AHOY, THAR MATEYS

Hello, again to all our family and friends! It's been a few weeks since our last entry to our blog so here's an update.

We left Fort Myers after 3 weeks and headed north to Port Charlotte to visit Nancy's Aunt, Uncles and cousins. We spent a week there and had a very nice visit. They kept us supplied in good wine and great food! Nancy's Uncle Bob came across from the Palm Beach area to spend time with us while we were there. Nancy and I took a short trip to Venice while we were in Port Charlotte to check it out. Nice town and nice beaches and no parking meters! Nice - Nice. We also took a trip to Punta Gorda with the relatives and had dinner at Fisherman's Village. We really enjoyed our stay at The Uncle Jim Campground and would rate it 5 stars!

We finally broke down and purchased a broadband air card from Verizon for our computer. So now we have internet access anywhere we go. What a nice gadget and thanks to Nancy's Aunt Ruth (who showed us the light), we now have our own, sooooooooooo no more looking around for Wi-Fi sites or libraries.

After leaving Port Charlotte, we continued on to our next stop - Fort Desoto Park in Tierra Verde, Florida. WOW! We both agree this has to be the nicest campground we've stayed at. There's not a bad campsite in the whole park with tons of biking and hiking and, of course, beautiful beaches. We biked 10 to 12 miles a day and spent most of our visit sitting on the beach or walking the beach hunting for seashells. (I need another trailer just to haul shells.)
We also toured Fort DeSoto, an old late 1800's army fort which was interesting and all within the park.
There is so much to do at the park that we never left the whole week we were there. A great place to return to and we will! It would be a great place to work camp for two months. We just might have to consider that sometime...
Oh, and did I mention, I left all my long pants and jeans in Fort Meyers? It's been shorts ever since and I must say it was time to shrug them bad boys.

Well, we did have to say goodbye to Fort DeSoto after our 7 day stay. Even the jumping dolphins we saw there everyday were sad to see us leave, but hey...we headed out Jan. 27th, and arrived in Hilllsborough River State Park.
We were here last year and had a great time and
we will be here for the next 14 days.
Be sure to check back in with us after a few weeks for another update as to where we might be and what we've been up to. Till then it's happy trails to you, and we're heading out on one as we speak. Adios Amigo's.
