Day 68 - Day 74
Well, we arrived at our final destination on Saturday (day 68) in Panama City, Florida. We checked into St Andrews State Park and set up on a beautiful large campsite within 35 feet of the water. We are situated on a lagoon off the Gulf of Mexico. WOW what a beautiful place! This campground would be held very high on our list for returns. We even had our own campfire ring to have our FIRST campfire since we left Michigan. We had deer on the beach behind our camper (which was facing the water) the first night. The next morning 4 more deer returned to feed by our rear windows for about 20 minutes. We actually saw many deer throughout the park and beach areas throughout the week including 4 different bucks!
Alligator Pond showed no evidence of alligators the day we visted and this too was within the park area. That was OK for us.
We spent every day at the beach, either walking the beach areas or sitting in the sun reading. Every afternoon the beach was just beautiful with the white powder sand and deep blue Gulf Waters. Very Pretty!
We did have 2 nights late in the evening with showers including a tornado watch in our area! Thank goodness we only had high winds the one night. We were hunkered down in the camper all evening, however; we we up at around 2am rolling up our canopy when the high winds rolled in. Not fun!
We ususally biked and/or walked every day. It was a very relaxing stay.
