Juan With His New Friends

Day 67

Spent the day riding our bikes, doing laundry, grocery shopping, catching up on emails and getting ready to pack up and leave tomorrow. Day 68 we are heading to the last of our travels and wind things up in Panama City, Florida. We are staying at St. Andrews State Park and our site is right on the Gulf. We will be there 8 days and then start our trip back home. It will be a little cooler there but that's OK. It will get us accustomed to the cooler weather before we start the treck back to the snow country.

Day 66

Now I know what you all are thinking, but we've been to these presentations so many times we are seasoned vets. No, we did not buy into anything as was our intention not to. We did receive these 3 free nights at a beautiful resort with ALL the amenities to boot and received a $25 dinner certificate at (we chose Macaroni Grill) plus a $50 Shell fuel credit card (important free fuel). Needless to say, we used the dinner certificate last night after spending the afternoon at Downtown Disney. We've used all the amenities of the RV resort including the adult hot tub and pool areas. This is a very nice place. Anyone who receives a free stay at "Thousand Trails" should take advantage of it!

Day 65

Left the "train station" and headed to Clermont, Florida for 3 days. Clermont is 9 miles from Disney World. We were able to stay 3 nights FREE! The catch was to attend a 90 minute sales pitch to buy into this private RV resort. We can hear the fireworks from EPCOT every night at 8:00 from our campsite, but we cannot see them - bummer!!

Day 64

Arrived back at the Tampa airport around 12:30pm. Stopped by the Thompson Cigar Factory outside the airport only to find no deals! Tired and disappointed and smokeless we continued back to Many Mansions RV Park to listen to more trains! Shorts were in order (screw the coats & gloves.) It was 76 degrees and the beer was cold!

Day 63

We found ourselves in +5F degree temps for the actual funeral. Pretty D_ _ cold! As all funerals go it is what it is....and we got through it and spent the remainder of the day with AL & Mary at the hotel. Thanks to them we had made a sad day into a day we were reminded how good it is to have a close family. We all made the best of the situation and had a few laughs to boot! We stayed with them until midnight and then left to drive back to Harrisburg to catch our 6am flight back to Florida. This was truly "The Longest Day!

Day 62

Today is Sunday and we flew out of Tampa for the funeral in PA. Had 1 layover in Atlanta, Georgia and then continued to Harrisburg PA. After arriving there we rented a car and drove 2.5 hours to Ramey, PA directly to the funeral home. Made it by 5:30pm and met many reletives there. Temperature was +12F. What a shock! Needless to say John's brother Al and wife Mary brought us warm clothes/coats/gloves from Michigan to help with our thin blood!

Days 58 - 61

We had another golf outing during this period. We played 18 holes at a local golf course and had a nice time. Too bad we left our golf shoes at the RV but it gave us an excuse as to how we played; at least the back 9! Ha...

We took in a show in Zephyrhills and went to see The Bucket List. Good movie! Did some bike riding at this campground and again continued to enjoy some sun. We did have some serious thunderstorms one night and it poured about 5 inches of rain. We stayed cozy inside the RV (as we had no other choice)

Day 57

Left Fort Myers and headed to our next destination. We had about a 3.5 hour drive up to Many Mansions RV Park which was located between Zephyrhills and Dade City. This area in Florida was alot less crowded traffic wise and was out in farm/horse country. The RV park was OK EXCEPT for thefact we had an ACTIVE train track about 200 yards from our site running day & NIGHT!

Days 55-56

Continued making arrangements to attend the funeral in Pennsylvania and finished up our stay in the Fort Myers area at Shady Acres RV Park. Relaxed and took in some sun at the campground and read books.

Day 54

Received sad news today that John's Aunt Millie in Florida passed away. So unexpected as we just got her into assisted living 10 days ago. We had planned on visiting with her again in 4 days (Wednesday). After receiving the news, spent the day on plans for attending the funeral in Pennsylvania. Started looking into flights to PA and car rentals.

Day 53

Went golfing today with Nancy's friend Tom from the old working days. It was a beautiful day in Fort Myers to golf, and we both played very well even though 13 out of 18 holes were with water hazards. First, Tom joined us for lunch at the camper, and then we followed him to his golf club where he lives and spent the remainder of the day golfing with him. Had a great time!
