84 Degrees is HOT!

Day 52

Today the weather was clear and 84 degrees. Nice day to spend on the beach and that's exactly what we did. We biked 3.5 miles on Sanibel Beach by the historic lighthouse. Then we planted our butts by the umbrella for the day of sunshine and seashells. We did not want to leave! We evaluated several timeshares for potential future stays. We decided the Case Ybel Resort was for us; we could spend a week or two on the island. It is beautiful. We then went to Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar & Grille for drinks and dinner. (I bought a shirt so some of you will see it in Mexico.) The Yuengling draft was ice cold! Also, the best clam chowder we have ever had! Would go back in a second. AT THE BEACH EVERY HOUR IS HAPPY HOUR!

Day 46 - 51
Met Nancy's Uncle Jim and Aunt Ruth at the Shell Factory fStore & had dinner. This was a hugh store that specialized in exotic shells, Christmas items, clothes and all the nick nacks you could think of. A hugh store and very interesting. Day 47 (Sat.) was a little cool (70) so we drove around Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Saw the sights and shopped. Day48 Uncle Jim & Aunt Ruth came to see our camper and visited for the day and we had barbacued Talapia. The next day (49) we toured Naples so I could show John where he would NEVER live. Very ritzy! Walked quite a few miles in historic Naples on 5th Avenue and along the beach to the Fisherman's Pier. Very beautiful sites and weather (82). We need about 10 RICH friends to go in together to afford one of the mansions on the Gulf. When we returned to the camper my Uncle Bob was waitinig for us for 4 hours. He drove over from West Palm Beach cause he missed us, but once on the road his phone did not work. Soooooo we quickly called AT&T to find a store. Drove to Cape Coral, had the phone fixed (except all his phone numbers were gone) then had dinner. He stayed the night in our camper. The next day (50) we drove to see Uncle Jim's house and 40' motor home. He lives in Port Charlotte. Beautiful house with pool on the water and a beautiful motor home. Uncle Jim made us a great German dish of spaetzle. It is a noodle dish that my Grandma used to make us all the time. Day 51 we toured the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford winter home estates and laboratory in Fort Myers. Never knew Henry Ford worked for Edison before he started the Ford Motor Co. In the evening we shopped at Fort Myers Beach and walked the Fisherman's Pier.

Day 45
Left the Keys today and headed for Fort Myers (Shady Acres RV Park). Drove back with very little traffic and had a nice trip up US41 (Tamiami Trail). Again saw a ton of Alligators through the Everglade area. Took about 7 hours to get to the campground in Fort Myers.

Day 44
Day 44 at Marathon in the Keys was a relaxing day at the campground. It also was Nancy laundry day so we stayed close to camp and got alot of chores done. It was very windy today and also chilled right on down to about 45 degrees that night. They may have set a record that night!
