Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!
Well, after many years in the making and waiting, we are off on our first adventure and finally "officially" on the road! We hit the road on Tuesday, Nov. 20th at 5:30am. So excited were we that by the time we reached the Ohio state line we received a phone call that we had left our garage door open. Fortunately, we have GREAT neighbors who look after us and closed the door for us...Ha! I guess we just couldn't get out of the driveway fast enough!

First stop Lakeview Ohio for a few tweaks on the new 5ver from the dealer where we purchased the camper. After about 5 hours we hit the road and continued on the first leg of our trip.

Second stop was spending the first night in Tamarack, West Virginia exit 45. This was a huge rest stop with many restaurants etc. and places to park. Pulled in with the truckers, locked the truck, jumped in the camper and had a few Fat Tires (Colorado brewskies) and jumped into bed. This as it turned out, was pretty nice believe it or not.

2nd day. Drove 5 hours and arrived in Durham, NC. Currently camping at Birchwood Campground which is about 8 minutes from daughter Laura's new house. Today Laura and Jimi are busy preparing Thanksgiving dinner for us. NICE! Laura has many new jobs. She has been recognized in the Durham Arts Council Winter 2008 class catalog with a picture of her work. She starts teaching Intermeiate and Advanced Wheel in January. She has also started back at Trader Joe's in Chapel Hill. She is helping to set up the new store. In addition, she is teaching private lessons. Jimi will find out in December about substitute teaching and has a possibility of teaching in February. Things are looking very good for them in N.C.

We will be here in Durham until Sunday then we are off to Greenville, SC for more visiting with family (Nancy's cousin Norm). So it's time to sign off for drinks and cigars. Happy Thanksgiving to all our Friends and Family... Ya'll come back now ya hear!
